Ministry Background Carrubbers Close Mission was founded in 1858 in Carrubbers Close, an alley leading off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It started in a former Atheist Meeting House, in an effort to reach Edinburgh children for Christ. In 1883, the American Evangelist DL Moody came to Edinburgh. He realised the need of a building, raised £10,000 to build one, and preached at the laying of the foundation stone. Carrubbers continues to have excellent trans-atlantic links to this day, and has continued in the evangelical tradition throughout its long history. In 1990, the directors of the mission decided to refurbish the aging building. A floor at balcony level has provided […]

Ministry Background In the 60’s “Greater Europe Mission” (GEM), began searching for a site from which they could reach youth in France’s northern industrial sector. A run-down house was found below an Alpine village in La Rivoire, above Bourg d’Oisans. The first camp was held in this house without running water, in 1967.  In 1969 buildings belonging to the Oddoux brothers in the Rivoire village became available and the purchase of the Camp Des Cimes buildings was finalized. Young Christians from across Europe— but mostly from France and the United States— came together the first summers to restore the old village in which some buildings were over 200 years old. […]

La Pastorale is a Christian campsite near Toulon, France that runs camps for children and youth. Many of the kids attending the camps are non-religious and the program is set up to introduce them to Jesus Christ. The camp site has been a hotel, and a training facility in the past and the property is in need of a major overhaul. Would you like to stay in this exciting place and help this ministry reach out to their community? The camp needs a construction team April 7-24 to help with roofing and remodeling. Other needs are TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teams during spring, fall, and possibly summer.

Athens, Greece

March is the off season for tourism in Athens. That could explain why the two shop keepers had time to read their Bibles during business hours. The group of euroteam volunteers noticed right away while browsing the store that the locals were occupied back behind the counter. Noticing that they were reading their Bibles (not an everyday occurrence in Greece!), they asked what they were discussing. One of the shop workers, from Madagascar, had a Bible full of highlighting, notes and underlines. She was discussing with the Greek women if Eve was guilty of eating the fruit, even if God only told Adam not to. Neither of them seemed to […]
