The transition can be a hard one. Shean aims to facilitate the integration of these legal refugees by offering them short-term housing. They provide them a place where they can   gather their strength and courage and prepare to continue on with their lives. Ministry Background Below the Alpine village of La Rivoire, in a run-down house without running water, GEM’s first French youth camp was held in 1967. In 1969, other buildings in La Rivoire became available and the purchase of the Camp Des Cimes property was finalized. Young Christians from across Europe and the United States then came together to restore the 200 year-old buildings. Hard-working and ambitious, these young adults sheltered in a barn which had neither electricity nor running water, sleeping in the hay.
